PB went out of the the President's Charity cup with a 5-0 defeat to Catford Cricket Club FC. After the game being postponed for the past 2 weeks due to the weather, both sides were eager to get the game played to avoid a fixture pile-up. Apart from some heavy showers towards the end of the game, the match was played in bright sunshine. James Collins was forced to shuffle the pack again due to availability of players, suspensions and injuries. In came Garry Ashworth to make his debut and Paul Smith was back from a lengthy absence with injury. PB gave a good performance in the first half, frustrating Catford and going close from shots from Paul Smith and Mark Beale. The side knew that Catford were a very good side and that they needed to get at them from the very start to stand a chance. However, Catford continued to press and cause PB problems. They had to wait until three minutes after half time when the very impressive Leigh Hinds beat the PB Defence and slotted the ball underneath Watts. It was visible that the PB heads went down and it wasnt long before they scored their 2nd, third, fourth and fifth and Hinds got his hat-trick. A dissapointing exit for the side but they can be encouraged by the display and 5-0 may of flattered Catford slightly. However, they are through and we wish them well for the rest of the competition. PB are now back to the bread and butter of the league and they need to start getting results to secure survival in the Premier Division. Man of the Match: Calum Comerford – A good, solid performance.
Team: Watts, Logue, Comerford, Collins, S. Reeves, Beale (T. Louch 50), Ashworth, Byworth, T.Reeves, Birch, Smith Subs not used: None
