Paul Birch Reserves - 7 V Crayside Colts FC - 0
|
SUNDAY 13TH JANUARY 2008 Paul Birch reserves got their first win of 2008 with a 7-1 mauling of Crayside Shots. Manager Pete Sparrow had the services of 1st team players Steve Birch and James Collins to call on as their game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. This game only proceeded due a mix up at Footscray Rugby club that meant that the Reserves had to move their home game to Norman Park. The pitch was fine and they took the lead when Steve Birch's tame lob caught out the keeper and it embarrasingly slipped through his fingertips to fall into the net. Crayside were back on level on terms virtually immediately when James Collins spent too much time on the ball and the striker broke through to score. Anthony Knight put the blues ahead again before he and Birch both got another two in the second half. Adding to that was two fine goals from Tarquin O'Shaughnessy and Paul Partridge and a good drive from Vlasyuk. All in all, a good days work for the lads and they now move onto next weeks game at Eden Park Rangers A.
Man of the match: Steve Birch - coming into the side as the 1st team game was postponed and scored twice and set-up one other.
